About

The workshop commemorates the 200th anniversary of Ghent University and its partnership with academic and industrial partners (LOT-Quantum Design GmbH, WITec GmbH and EU COST action Raman4Clinics).
This is the 1st workshop with an eye on continuing this tradition and organizing short workshops in the future.
The theme for this year is Nano-Bio-Materials, where biomimetic, bioinspired, biopolymer and mineralization-based materials will be discussed. Invited and renowned speakers from Germany, the United States of America, France, Russia and local speakers from Belgium will give the latest insights into development of novel nano-bio-materials (1st day: 13 September, 2017).

Overview of the application of Raman imaging in various fields accompanied by a demonstration with practical applications will be given by WITec GmbH on the 2nd day of the workshop (14 September, 2017).
The participants will have sufficient time for in-depth discussions and close interaction with leading scientists and users of WITec GmbH microscope systems.
Scientists interested in chemically identifying and imaging the compounds of a sample at the highest spatial resolution are invited to participate.
Industrial liaison meeting of the EU COST Raman4Clinics action will take place on the 3rd day of the workshop (15 September, 2017).
Presentations by industrial companies and a round-table discussion are planned.
